Doing this ensures everyone can see the ad and you can potentially earn more from that ad, but it will take twice as long to perform.

Before you go through the process of signing up for affiliate programs or soliciting for ads, be sure to read the rules and bylaws of your blogging platform. Some platforms, such as WordPress, restrict the type of ads you can place within your blog as well as the types of outside code they will support.

Syndication

Syndication for a blog occurs when an outside entity pays you, the owner, for the content within your blog. This is usually for both current and future content. How much you are paid and the length of the contract varies from contract to contract. Though you can solicit such contracts, in general those who are seeking the type of articles/posts your blog contains will find you when they are ready to begin contract negotiations.

Syndication takes time. Those who buy blog content (and in effect the blogger) look for consistency, style, and content type when choosing whom to contract with. The longer you blog and the more consistent you are with your blogging the more likely it is that your blog will be syndicated.

If you have a blog, you know how important it is to keep it updated so that your visitors keep coming back for more. The problem is, how do you get ideas for content after the first fifty or so articles? It can be a real challenge, and you can tell when some bloggers are stretching the limits of their creativity!

Don’t let this happen to you. Here are three tools for your blogging toolbox that will have you cranking out blog posts with no writer’s block whatsoever!

Be sure to bookmark this article so that you can return to these ideas anytime that you are stuck for ideas.

1. Keep a pile of magazines and newspapers handy. This material does not have to be in your niche. Look at the headlines that they are using. You may have a copy of National Geographic’s Traveler handy that has a headline reading, “30 Destinations You Don’t Want to Miss.” You can take this and run with it. If you have a blog dealing with SEO, you can keep the article title the same, except for perhaps the number, and focus on Internet destinations that will help your reader with SEO.

Or say that you see a headline in a cooking magazine that reads, “Smoking Hot Recipes.” Perhaps your blog is about dating, and you’d like to write an article about how to get the girl. That headline could inspire a post entitled “10 Smoking Hot Recipes for Success With Women.”

When I am absolutely stuck, the headline trick works for me every time.

2. Use index cards to brainstorm. Get a package of fifty, and divide them into three piles. One the cards in the first pile, write a broad topic related to your site’s focus. So, for a cooking blog, you’d write things such as “baking”, “grilling”, “cookware”, etc.

On the second group of cards, write some random details related to your blog. For example, “tumeric”, “spatula”, “fat-free”.

On the third group of cards, write a list of people and events related to your topic. On the hypothetical cooking blog, you could have “Julia Child”, “Dinner Party”, “Thanksgiving”.

Now, choose one card from each pile. You may end up with something like “Dinner Party Idea: Grilled Salmon with Tumeric.” Or you could end up with something utterly stupid, like Fat-Free Thanksgiving Spatula. Still, sometimes even the silly ones will give you ideas, and this method is certainly fun to work with!

3.Open a book that you have nearby. Close your eyes and point to a word. I just did this, and came up with “female.” Do it again. “Twenty.” Again. “Angry.”

Okay, so now you have twenty angry females. What can you do with that? “Twenty Ways to Make Your Girlfriend Never Want to See You Again?” Or in the cooking blog example, “Twenty Angry Lobsters Equals a Feast for Your Friends.” Okay, so perhaps not that last one. But you can work off of a seemingly ridiculous idea until it works, even if you don’t end up with any of your original words. Oh, and don’t limit yourself to only three words if nothing is clicking. Also, words like, “the” and “it” don’t count.

I hope that these three techniques help you find your writer’s voice that will enable you to blog to your heart’s content. And your wallet’s too, if revenue is what your after. Content is king, and these tools will definitely help you create it!
